This is what I came up with.
Rinse and cut the dry ends off the asparagus.
Mix flour, water, salt, pepper, parmesan cheese and Italian bread crumbs into a 9x13 baking pan. The mix is roughly half flour and half bread crumbs with about 1/3 cup of the cheese and salt and pepper sprinkled. Mix in enough water to the dry ingredients to make it slightly runny - a little like pancake batter.
Place the asparagus in the mix and then carefully place the coated asparagus into a deep fryer. Cook until lightly golden brown.
Sprinkle with sea salt and enjoy.
