3 pounds boneless country style ribs (we used beef, but will try pork next time)
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 med onion sliced
1/2 cup apple butter
2 Tbsp packed brown sugar
1 Tbsp liquid smoke
2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper, place in slow cooker, cover with onions
Mix remaining ingredients, pour over the ribs and onion.
Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours (again, this may be less time depending on your cooker)
Remove ribs to warm platter, keep them warm. Use juices as sauce. To thicken the sauce - stain liquid and pour juices into a sauce pan. Heat juice to boiling over med-high heat, then reduce to med. Cook about 5 min until juice has thickened slightly.
